After its expected approval by three-fifths majority vote in joint parliament, this constitutional enshrining is a ‘historic’ step towards women’s rights. Poland’s 2020 constitutional ruling of restricting women from terminating pregnancies even in cases involving severe fetal deformities has led to protests in the country last year.
